LEARN. SHOOT, SHARE
at negative outlook photographers can come together, learn from each other and, most importantly, enjoy shooting film.
more than just film...
Â
at negative outlook, we believe analogue photography is about more than simply taking pictures. It’s about slowing down, getting out with your camera, meeting people, and enjoying the process of making photographs.photography has been a huge part of my life for years, and one of the things i love most about it is sharing that passion with other people. whether you're picking up a film camera for the first time or you've been shooting film for decades, there is always something new to learn, try and experience.that's what i want negative outlook to be, a place where photographers can come together, learn from each other and, most importantly, enjoy shooting film.
Learn. Shoot. Share.

through negative outlook, I’ll be running photography workshops, photo walks and community meet-ups, covering everything from the fundamentals of using a camera to getting the most out of different film stocks. we'll explore things like:
Â
-
understanding your camera and how to get the most from it
-
exposure, metering and the sunny 16 rule
-
choosing the right film stock for the light and the look you want
-
understanding the differences between colour, black & white, high-speed and low-speed films
-
composition and finding interesting photographs
-
working with natural light
-
shooting with flash
-
getting the most out of your negatives
-
the basics of developing and scanning film
-
how to approach analogue photography creativelyÂ
Â
but it won't all be about aperture, shutter speeds and iso.
some of the best photography conversations happen over a coffee or a drink.
come and meet other film photographers
i'd love negative outlook to become a local community for people who love analogue photography.
that means regular, informal meet-ups at local coffee shops, pubs and bars where we can bring our cameras, talk about photography, share our latest rolls and geek out over old cameras, lenses and film.
no formal presentations. no pressure. no experience required.

just photographers getting together and talking about something they love.we'll also organise photo walks, giving everyone the chance to get out and shoot together.
Â
You might come along with a leica, an old canon, a disposable camera or whatever you've got in your bag. the idea is simply to walk, shoot, experiment and see the world a little differently.
Â
everyone is welcome! you don't need to be an experienced photographer to be part of the negative outlook community. If you've just bought your first film camera and don't know where to start, come along.if you've been shooting film for years and want to share what you've learned, come along.if you're interested in trying a different film stock, learning how to meter properly, improving your composition, or simply meeting other people who understand why you'd happily spend an afternoon talking about a 40-year-old camera you're very welcome.negative outlook isn't just about developing film.

It's about developing a community around it. come and shoot with us.
